“Enjoying the very best of the summer sunshine through its unique position the Isle of Wight attracts visitors from every corner of the globe. The peace, beauty and varied delights of this wonderful Island have kept it a favourite holiday destination since early Victorian times when Queen Victoria purchased Osborne House. Our base, Shanklin, is a lovely resort with miles of sandy beaches, beautiful gardens, promenade and olde worlde thatched cottages.

THE CHANNEL VIEW HOTEL, SHANKLIN ***

This hotel is in a unique location occupying an elevated lifftop position overlooking Shanklin Bay and is owned by the Gino Family who are justly proud of their reputation for quality, warm welcome, efficient service, excellent food and attention to detail. All bedrooms are tastefully decorated and have television, radio, telephone, hairdryer and a welcome tray with beverages. There is indoor swimming pool with spa and sauna.

Itinerary

SUNDAY We depart the Tyne Valley and make our way south to meet our ferry for the crossing to the Isle of Wight. We continue to Shanklin, our base for 6 nights. Whilst in resort we have included two days at leisure and the following excursions:
Alum Bay within sight of the Needles rock formation. The historic port town of Yarmouth which has some of the oldest architecture on the Isle.
• Picturesque Godshill with its delightful medieval church and charming thatched cottages.

Cowes, split into two by the River Medina and steeped in maritime heritage and Ryde, with an esplanade, expanse of sandy beach and boutiques, museums and galleries.

• Spend your two free days relaxing in resort or join our optional excursions which include a sail on the Solent and a visit to Osborne House, the palatial holiday home of Queen Victoria and now looked after by English Heritage. The house offers an intimate glimpse of royal family life and the garden terraces have stunning views.
SATURDAY Today we return home with comfort breaks en route arriving during the early evening.
